This is a very loaded question... what is this site about? Well the easy answer is, it's about the Marvelous 3! But it's more than that. This site is about the Marvelous 3, of course. It's because in February 1999 I had an epiphany. I saw this band that completely changed the rules of music. It was how it should be, not how it was. They inspired me, so I thought I would return the favor and make this website. The website sort of took on a life of it's own after that. It has become a network of communication between myself and all of you. I am so happy that I have made SO many friends (and maybe a few enemies) through this site. I didn't even realize how big it had become until I went to different Marvelous 3 concerts in different parts of the world and people knew who I was because of this website. It's such a great feeling. Things changed fairly early on in this website's history, I wanted to keep going on making this website for everyone in the Marvelous 3 community. Sure I still wanted to make something to help the band out, because every good band needs publicity, but I wanted to make this a place for Marvelous 3 fans to find out everything they ever wanted about their favorite band. Accurately. It's been my goal from day 1 to make this accurate and keep rumors off the site. I know a few have slipped through, like the dreaded Blondie incident. I found my old ticket for that recently. There's $80 I'll never see again! Besides making this site for the band, for the fans, for myself, it has become my ever changing reflection of my work as a web developer. By trade, I mainly am a coder. I am not a designer, I don't sell my skills as a designer so this site is my main chance to do it. I love simplicity in websites, as you can tell by Marvie World v. 3.0. Flashy designs are great too, but for my own stuff I like very organized, stream lined websites that are functional yet look nice. This website has undergone 3 main design changes and they all reflected where I was as a web developer. As I grow, so does it. Some of you probably don't know this, but Marvie World actually helped me get my first job as a web developer. I never thought it would turn into a career, I always thought it would just be a hobby. Now, it's my livelihood. I love my job, and I probably would have never pursued it if it hadn't been for this website. So now I'm all gushy. :) I also want to take this space to show off some of the accomplishments this site has made. We have been linked to various websites for information about Marvelous 3. Many radio stations, have linked it up when they had Marvelous 3 play their radio shows. We have also been approached by various bands like Good Charlotte, American Pearl, and I can't even remember them all to post links about them here because they know people with good music taste come here and they want the same fan base. Granted, I haven't always posted them because I like to remain pure to the idea of this site. We were approached by Hard Rock RockFest to advertise their first version of the show that Marvelous 3 played at in 1999. we have been linked in various websites when they interviewed or did stories on Marvelous 3, for example Metal Sludge linked up this website in their recent Rewind with Butch. Probably the biggest honor of all was being approached by Rolling Stone Online to help them prepare interview questions for Marvelous 3 for a webcast. So that's it... that's what this site is about. Hope you enjoy it! |
