Marvelous 3 has done a version of Steely Dan's "Reeling' In The Years" for the soundtrack to the Jim Carrey movie Me, Myself & Irene. The band whipped the cover out in just about 30 minutes while they were in the studio recording their new album, Ready, Sex, Go.

Singer Butch Walker told LAUNCH how an Elektra Records staffer got them involved in the project. "He told me all about the movie, and I'm a big Jim Carrey fan, for one thing, obviously because everybody tells me I remind them of him on stage," he said. "I don't know if that's for better or for worse, just because I think we're both a little over the top as far as our persona goes. He called and said it would have to be a Steely Dan cover. And obviously that was no problem for us because the bass player, Slug, and Jayce -- we grew up on Steely Dan. We're actual products -- or byproducts -- of the '70s and '80s."

Walker added, "I don't know if we really can do a band like that justice. I don't know if they liked it, but we had fun doing it."

The soundtrack for Me, Myself & Irene is currently in stores, and the movie opens in theaters on June 23.
