Marvelous 3, "Freak of the Week" (Hi Fi/Elektra)  I'm a sucker for swaggering, major-label debuts about sell-out dread, and these Atlanta so-you-wanna-be-rock-'n'-roll-stars swing a mean scarf-not quite the melodic gush of the Raspberries or the goofy guitar chills of Cheap Trick, but certainly Third Eye Blind with a better record collection and a less dickheaded attitude. Lead singer Butch Walker fantasizes that his shrink looks like Elvis, spends all his money on trendy clothes, and has that catch in his voice that all us stupid kids crave.
